What a coincidence. The M’s just re-signed “Junior” and now Nike is going to retro the shoe that started the “Swingman” legacy. When Ken Griffey Jr. was in his prime he was an awesome fielder, had a canon arm, was a smooth base runner, and a swing so perfect it earned him his nickname “Swingman.” Back when he first signed his Nike contract “Junior” got his own signature shoes and they were some of the sickest looking kicks to be made for the Mariner. Finally, after years of waiting, and major career accomplishments achieved, the Griffeys are coming back.

This past weekend on Jan. 31, the Seattle International District celebrated the Chinese New Year. Year of the Ox. I have been missing the festivities for the past 5 years so this year I said to myself I just have to go! Since I moved here… I’ve been wondering if it’s just like how it is back at home (hawaii-nae) with all the street vendors and booths…really yummy food…cute dinky trinkets…like a little mini flea market..and of course some Lion Dance NOT dragon dance…those are 2 different things my friend…everyone always gets it twisted…maybe i’ll have to explain in another blog?…
This is how the day went…
Since we were in Chinatown we just had to start off with some yummy Dim Sum at my personal fav. Jade Garden. The place was crackin as usual, we had to wait almost an hour! BUT it was so worth it =)
Chicken feet anyone?

baked char siu bao

With our filled tummy’s we walked around and enjoyed some lion dance blessing stores and dancing under the red fire crackers…it almost felt like i was at home…(yes, i’m a bit homesick right now)

This year it was sponsored by Snoqualmie Casino, so there was a little faux gambling going on to win some prizes and stuff…Even though it was a lot smaller than the islands one…there were no street vendors selling any food, although there was a starbucks booth passing out free tea and coffee (only in seattle i guess?) I had a great time. I will definately join in on the celebration again!
KUNG HEE FAT CHOY!
1 commentI GOT TO HAVE THIS!! NAMSAYIN
So a buddy of mine sent me a link to this new cell phone, the Samsung W7900, its a cellphone with all the bells and whistles, but most importantly it has one key feature that is the very first of its kind. What feature you may ask? A built-in projector! Check it out, this product is only available in Korea and the U.S. is not expected to see this item anytime soon. So if your in Korea and can get this thing jailbroken let me know namsayin!
