The Studio / Rappers & Cameras

January 30th, 2012 | Category: Namsayin

Last week, Geo from the Blue Scholars and Thig Natural from The Physics put on a lil photo show to display their works. The event was held in their new studio and since we missed it, we decided to stop by and check it out. The studio is pretty snazzy and it’s only a mattter of time before they put out another set of bangers for your listening pleasure. In fact, they’ve been working on some new material to be released before spring/summer. Be on the look and look at these photos. Namsayin.

Geo’s photowork is pretty impressive, so impressive that someone bought a photo, hence the missing space.

Not alot of shaking, but lots of polaroid pictures. A tradition to those family / friends that stop by the studio.

Can’t forget about Thig’s work too. Real cool. Check out more of his work here.

The studio.

Vinyl, something that not alot of people collect these days.

Tapes. Something only very few collect these days.

KNOW WHERE YOU CAME FROM vol.1: THE PHYSICS

November 09th, 2011 | Category: Namsayin

One of many on-going projects we’ll be releasing on our site. Our “Know Where You Came From” project spawned when Jeff (Madnw) and I started talking about our childhood; growing up in the south-end. As a result of being idea generators, MADnw x Namsayin will bring to you a series of short clips; an insight on some of the Seattle Hip-Hop’s artist. Like our communi-tees, dedicated to the neighborhoods in the greater Seattle area, these clips expose the other side; their personalities of the local musicians and the neighborhood they grew up in. So enjoy the clip, go grape some grape drank and click that play button below. Namsayin.

The Physics “Love is a Business” album release show

August 17th, 2011 | Category: Namsayin

Sorry for the lack of updates within the last week. We’ve been busy here at Namsayin and with the 3 of us in constant workhorse mode, we’ve been trying to get everything ready for Fall. We have alot of surprises for this fall, alot of projects happening so stay tuned kiddies. Enough of our “biz” but I wanted to share with you what went on at The Physics “Love is a Business” album release show. If you missed out; YOU MISSED OUT! Ton’s of people were in attendance for both 18 + / 21+ shows. Incredible show, so incredible that i didn’t get enough photos of those that were in attendance. Some of your favorite rapper’s rapper’s were there. Sorry for the lack of photos in advance, ya’ll can ask me for a free shirt next time you see me.

The first show that evening was for those who couldn’t get their drink on, never the less the energy of the crowd was still there. Hosted by Khingz himself, up to bat for this show segment was Brothers from Another, Dyno Jamz and the King of Ballard, Grynch. All acts grindin’ hard on the stage, going heavy, going wid it, whatever you wanna call it, they brought it to the stage, namsayin.

Before the second show, the crowd came in pretty heavy. I mean everyone came in ready to get it on and listen to some good music. Seattle’s hip hop front runners were definitely in the building. To name a few, Macklemore, Geo from Blue Scholars, Grynch, Wizdom and im sure im missing a handful of artists, but pay attention Seattle. These cats are putting us on in the best way. Also, celb photographer KJ was in attendance as well.

The second show was hosted by El Mizell. On the 1s N 2s the crowd was blessed with Jake One. Fly Moon royalty kicked the second show proper, followed by new Seatown act Malice + Mario Sweet; a personal new fav of mine, followed by the combustable energy of Hi-Life Soundsystem and to top it off and bring the house down by non other than the men of the night, The Physics. Again sorry for the lack of photos, it was definitely one of those nights that made me feel good to be back in the city that rains and pours dope music.

We still have shirts available from our collaborative project with The Physics, go to our “store” cop it and rock it. “Love is a business” album is definitely quality. It’s one of the CDs that you’ll need in your whip. Support local Seatown hip hop joints. Again apologize for the lack of photos, but definitely it was a night to remember. Till then, see you guys around Seattle and stay glued kids! Fack!

The Physics x Namsayin: 106 South End

August 03rd, 2011 | Category: Namsayin

FACK. We’re excited today, Namsayin. We’ve been working twice as hard and been crankin’ projects left and right, but before I get ahead and start leaking all the other projects we’ve been doing this summer, im proud to say and glad we’re working with some local Seattle sound in the ever-so growing hip hop scene. The Physics x Namsayin:106 South End “Know where you came from” Tee represents our roots as well as a route that we pride ourselves while growing up in So. Seattle. After all, where would we be without our city and our hood behind us.

Our project came into fruition only becauses of two things: we’re fans of their music and what better way to come together and share / expose / our homies on what we pride ourselves on and that’s good music and great design for our city of Seattle. Seattle sound is growing, our brand is and so are The Physics. The project is simple and straight forward, but it captures an essence of South End support and Seattle love. Our “Know where you came from!” Tee pays tribute to a bus route that covers entire South End of Seattle, but other neighborhoods as well. The graphic is printed on a charcoal color-way tee, with a eye-popping teal silkscreen paint. This will be an exclusive Online release and will be only available via our Onlineshop.

On the back you’ll see the logo we’ve created for The Physics along with an iconic character of the group by the name of “Henderson.” Henderson is their mascot and Henderson isn’t in the building unless you have all three members rockin’ the house. There is no Henderson status if Justo & Thig Natural are rockin’; monkwordsmith must be there visa versa, namsayin. You can call it a tradition, a religious montra, a spirit of the group, whatever. Henderson goes hard.

The Physics x Namsayin: 106 South End “Know where you came from!” tee release will be on August 7, 2011 @ 8am PST. We only printed 80 of these shirts. So be the first. If you can’t wait till the 7th, I highly suggest that you go to your local sonic boom or go to Thephysicsmusic.com and cop some tickets for their show @ The Crocodile this Saturday August 6, 2011. We will have the shirts available and for sale. Only 80s pieces, in various sizes. Hope to see ya’ll a the show. Namsayin.

The Physics

July 11th, 2011 | Category: Namsayin,Seattle

Thig Natural, Just “Justo” D’Amato, and Monk Wordsmith; if you don’t know these names, get familiar. They are The Physics and they are paving a fresh, smooth vibe of substantial hip hop music in our city of Seattle. Namsayin got into the studio as they were working on their upcoming album titled “Love is a Business.” We sat down with the fellas to see what collaborative project we can come up with and I think we have something “Ughh!Fack!” worthy ahead of us. We can’t really say what it’s gonna look like, but it’ll be definitely be a solid project for the both of us. But enough of our project, let me introduce you to the The Physics.

Above, from left to right we got Justo, Monk Wordsmith and Thig Natural. I told them to smile, but they didn’t smile much because they’re rappers, but…..i told them that’s alright because they produce super solid music. Here’s more photos of the fellas, doing what they do best; laying verses down and contributing to the Seattle sound.

The group started back in ’98 and since then have been making moves in Seattle’s hip hop scene steadily. The Physics is set to release their newest album “Love is a Business” August 6th @ The Crocodile. The roaster of performers for their show is looking pretty heavy, stay tuned for the offical roaster of artist performing at this major event. Here’s some of my favorites from their past album “High Society” and “Future Talk.” You can thank me later, Namsayin.
